I am stoked to be a teacher and come back and teach in the community that raised me. I have developed so many relationships through this crazy year, but most importantly, I have found my calling. As much as I love Wichita, there is no better feeling than being surrounded by my closest friends and family in smalltown, USA. Lastly, I did not plan on finishing my freshman year at home. I realized that my true passion is being a teacher. Having yet another thing not going as planned was taking a toll on me, but making myself happy and pursuing my passion was more important. My family pushed me to realize that I never wanted to be a nurse and I never wanted to be an SLP - those were just things that slightly caught my attention, and made decent money (terrible mindset I know, but I got my stuff together now).

I had no desire to go to graduate school or study for hours to take a standardized test, and I was only doing it because it would get me into a school setting and would make pretty good money. The next unplanned thing in my life? I wasn’t enjoying the education I was pursuing. It made me take a step back and learn a few things about myself (BIG SELF GROWTH)! Please say a little prayer that semi formal goes somewhat as planned. Being the perfectionist and overly organized person that I am, this caused quite a lot of stress in my life. All I am going to say about this is that I stopped planning in this position because nothing ever went as planned. In November, I was ecstatic to be elected as Social Chairwoman. This was the first of many things that did not go as planned this year. There were many factors that led to this decision, which landed me as a Communication Sciences and Disorders major, because I knew being in a school setting was my passion. Nursing lasted about a week, and then I realized that, wow - I actually don’t want to be a nurse. At that point, changing my mind wasn’t an option in my head…but that changed.

I had big dreams, and was ready to see what the city had to offer. As my freshman year came to a close, I realized how many things did not go as planned.Ĭoming into college, I was a Nursing major who was determined to become a labor and delivery nurse, traveling the country working in hospitals all over.
